Grant Description
Grants to New Brunswick artists for the production of original arts projects. Funding is intended to enable artists to research, develop, and implement creative works in a range of artistic disciplines. Eligible applicants include professional artists who may be mid-career, emerging, or at the senior level of their careers.

The Creation program is designed to provide assistance to professional New Brunswick artists for the research, development and execution of original projects in the arts. Creation grants are intended to allow artists to devote some or most of their time to research and creative production. There are three categories under the Creation program:

  • Category A: For senior artists who have achieved a superior level of accomplishment and who have made a nationally or internationally recognized contribution to their discipline or to the arts in general.
  • Category B: For mid-career artists who have been practicing professionally in their discipline for a sustained period of time, and are able to demonstrate a regionally or nationally recognized contribution to their discipline or to the arts in general.
  • Category C: For emerging artists who can demonstrate their commitment to the development of specialized skills or knowledge in their discipline and who are producing a growing repertoire or body of work.

Eligible artistic disciplines include architecture, craft, dance, literary arts (including spoken word, storytelling, literary performance and literary translation), media arts, multidisciplinary arts, classical and non-classical music, theatre and visual arts.

Eligible genres for all artistic disciplines include those whose intent and/or content places creativity, self-expression and/or experimentation above the current demands and format expectations of the mainstream industry, and has a significance beyond being solely a form of entertainment.
