Grant Description
Award of $4,500 to a USA, Canada, or International psychologist affiliated with a nonprofit institution or government entity to recognize scholarly contributions. The program is intended for psychologists at all levels of their careers. Applicants should demonstrate that they have made and will continue to make scholarly contributions to the philosophical foundations of psychological knowledge.

APF supports original, innovative research and projects. Although APF favors unique, independent work, the Foundation does fund derivative projects that are part of larger studies.

Recipient

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• Be psychologists with an EdD, PsyD, or PhD from accredited universities
• Demonstrate contributions to the philosophical foundations of psychology, particularly over the last five to 10 years (psychologists of all levels of careers will be considered within this criterion)

Self-nominations are accepted.

International applicants from countries that have diplomatic relations with the United States and who meet the other eligibility requirements may apply for APF funding.

APF encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds with respect to age, race, color, religion, creed, nationality, ability, sexual orientation, gender, and geography.

To receive APF funds, recipients must be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational or scientific institution, or governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. For grants and scholarships that are $10,000 or more, APF will disburse the funds to the grantee’s institution.

Ineligible
APF does not allow institutional indirect/administrative/overhead costs and/or fees to be taken out of grant monies. Examples include (but are not limited to): Technology Infrastructure Fees, Cost-Share Initiatives of any kind, lab administration and/or maintenance fees, etc.

APF Trustees must wait one year after their term of service before they can be considered for a grant or an award.

Pre-Application Information
Deadline: June 5, 2025. Applications are due at 11:59 p.m. Hawaii Time (HT) on the due date.

Grant recipients will be announced approximately three to four months after a grant deadline.

Funding begins when recipients submit IRB approval and the required paperwork. APF funding will continue for a maximum of 12 months from the check date. Extensions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

You can apply to as many APF programs as you like. Researchers can win multiple awards for different projects. Each individual project, however, can only receive funding once.
