Grant Description
Grants and in-kind support to Alabama nonprofit organizations to help combat the opioid epidemic in eligible regions. Funding is intended to provide interim financial assistance and technical support to organizations seeking larger sums from other sources. Eligible organizations serve residents of Walker County.

The Walker Area Community Foundation created The Healing Network Fund to support the Network's multi-year strategic plan with short-term seed funding and technical assistance for major grant proposals.

Qualified 501c3 nonprofit organizations may apply to the foundation for funding throughout the year for projects that address the community impact of opioid misuse and addiction, and that fit into the strategic plan of the Healing Network:

  1. Community education on the risks and harms of substance and opioid use disorders and interrelated mental health issues, as well as available resources
  2. Prevention and early intervention of substance use disorders
  3. Equitable and timely treatment and recovery support services
  4. Community-led lifelong recovery support that enhances citizen engagement
  5. Harm reduction, including morbidity and mortality, related to substance use and interrelated mental health issues.

Qualified 501c3 nonprofit organizations may apply to the foundation for funding.

Even if your organization is a part of The Healing Network or does work that aligns with The Healing Network, you should only apply to The Healing Network Fund if one the following applies to you:
- Your organization requires technical assistance to access a major funding opportunity like a federal grant – grant writing support, matching funds, data, etc.
- Your organization is interested in short-term funding (i.e., not a full year) to serve as a bridge to an available or upcoming funding opportunity.
